More Cranes - Graphite

For today's sketching, I'm working from photos I took of this family with the different poses captured.  I could work several sheets (which I might still do) from standing to laying in the grass.

To me, these birds are extremely intriguing.  Most birds come across as dainty fragile little creatures.  The sandhill crane denotes power or strength to me as well as elegance .

Worked in a generic sketchbook (from Walmart)
Derwent Graphite pencil HB (short stubby pencil at this point and I believe is the water soluble graphite)
Used mainly parallel to the paper for general shapes and point for more definition.
